License Plate Reading Cameras Installed To Help Solve and Reduce Crime
The Village of Maple Bluff Police Department installed automated license plate reading (ALPR) cameras to help solve and reduce crime in our community. The cameras, built by Flock Safety, were installed at strategic locations throughout the Village the week of April 3rd, 2023.
Flock Safety ALPR cameras send a real-time alerts to our officers when a stolen car or vehicle associated with a known wanted suspect from a state or national crime database is detected. The system also sends an alert to our officers if a vehicle associated with a missing person in an AMBER or Silver Alert is detected. The cameras are used to help solve and reduce property and violent crime, and not intended for minor traffic or parking violations.
The Maple Bluff Police Department is committed to protecting the residents and visitors of our community. Cameras won’t eliminate wrongdoing, however, they’re a valuable tool for gathering vital information during investigations.
