FloodPlain Zoning Update
The Village of Maple Bluff recently adopted updated floodplain zoning regulations and maps as required by the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources (WisDNR) and the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA). These updates ensure continued eligibility for the National Flood Insurance Program and help protect property from potential flood damage.
Floodplain zoning in Maple Bluff affects only the Lake Mendota shoreline areas, including portions near the Marina and Burrows Park. For most properties, there is no change. However, in limited cases, the designated floodplain extends into otherwise buildable areas of private lots. Because these areas are now classified as “flood storage areas,” opportunities for new or expanded building within them are highly restricted.
Important Note: Chapter 226 of the Village Code (Floodplain Zoning) is in the process of being updated on eCode360. This update may take time to appear online. Until then, residents should use the ordinance link provided below to review the adopted regulations directly.
