Village Committee Appointment Process
Village committees play an important advisory role in Maple Bluff’s governance. Committee members are appointed officials who assist the Village Board and staff by providing input, perspective, and recommendations on specific policy areas.
- Committee Vacancies
Committee vacancies may occur due to:
- Expiration of a term
- Resignation
- Creation of a new committee or position
When a vacancy occurs, the Village may seek expressions of interest from residents.
- Eligibility
To be considered for appointment, an individual must:
- Be a resident of the Village of Maple Bluff
- Be a qualified elector of the Village
- Have an interest or experience relevant to the committee’s scope
Some committees may have additional qualifications established by ordinance or Board practice.
- Expression of Interest
Residents interested in serving on a committee may:
- Submit a letter or email expressing interest
- Indicate committee preferences and relevant background
Expressions of interest are typically submitted to the Village President or Village Clerk.
- Review and Consideration
Appointments are reviewed by the Village President, often in consultation with:
- The Village Administrator
- Current committee leadership
- Other members of the Village Board
Consideration may include:

- Availability and willingness to participate
- Overall composition of the committee

- Orientation and Service
Once appointed, committee members:
